Frequently asked questions (FAQs)
What can be removed during the gastroscopy procedure?
Polyps, other growths in the stomach or esophagus, as well as pathologically altered tissue in Barret’s esophagus.
How do I prepare for the procedure?
You must remain fasting (usually from midnight) to allow an optimal view of the stomach and duodenum.
Is the procedure painful?
Thanks to light sedation (twilight sleep), most patients feel nothing of the examination.
Can I go home immediately after the procedure?
After a short monitoring period, you can leave the practice – but only if accompanied, as you are not allowed to actively participate in road traffic due to the sedation.
