Procedure for gastric balloon therapy

1. Beratungsgespräch & Eignungsprüfung

Before deciding to undergo gastric balloon therapy, you will have a detailed consultation with Dr. Brunk to determine whether the gastric balloon is suitable for you. The most important factors are

✔ A BMI between 27 and 40
✔ No serious gastrointestinal illnesses
✔ Previous unsuccessful attempts to lose weight sustainably with diets

You will also receive comprehensive information from My-Weigh, our partner for weight management. My-Weigh will support you throughout the therapy phase with individual coaching and nutrition tips.

2. Einsetzen des Magenballons

The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis and only takes 15-20 minutes:

The gastric balloon is inserted by means of gastroscopy (endoscopy).
It is then filled with a sterile liquid.
You can go home after a few hours.

3. Anpassung der Ernährung & Nachsorge

A gastric balloon is not a substitute for a healthy lifestyle, but a tool to support a change in diet. The following are important:

Slow, conscious food intake
Reduced portion sizes and healthy foods
Adequate fluid intake
Regular exercise for lasting success

4. Regelmäßige Kontrolle & Entnahme des Ballons

Monthly check-ups with Dr. Brunk to monitor progress
After 6 months, the gastric balloon is removed endoscopically, also on an outpatient basis
