In Berlin, we are launching a pilot project that is unique in Germany:

Together with four Berlin hospitals, we are establishing a care model in which even complex procedures can be safely performed on an outpatient basis—that is, without a hospital stay. For you, this means: You come in for your appointment, receive expert treatment, and can usually go home the same day.

We laid the foundation yesterday in Berlin-Karlshorst—with the signing of the “Berlin Declaration on Outpatient Care and Intersectoral Care,” a binding agreement between our practice and four Berlin hospitals. The event was supported by, among others, the Berlin Medical Association, Charité, a health insurance provider, and representatives from the field of health policy. This is not merely a statement of intent, but a joint commitment—with a clear determination to take action now.

What this means for you:

Today, we can also offer even complex gastrointestinal examinations on an outpatient basis: for example, detailed internal ultrasound examinations, the collection of tissue samples, or the gentle removal of polyps and very early precancerous lesions. For a long time, such procedures were reserved for hospitals. Today, you can receive these procedures close to home, in familiar surroundings, and with the same high quality—but without an inpatient stay, with less stress, and a quicker return to your daily routine.

Practice and Clinic – Hand in Hand

The goal here is not to move procedures out of the hospital at any cost. Medical care that belongs in the hospital remains there, where it is well taken care of. Close collaboration is key: medical practices and hospitals work together to ensure that you receive the care that’s right for you at every stage. To ensure this exchange runs smoothly and securely, we also rely on modern, digital networking among the participating facilities.
