Specialist practice for gastroenterology in Karlshorst
Welcome to our Center for Outpatient Surgery in Gastroenterology in Karlshorst. Based on the approval of the KV-Berlin for outpatient surgery in the field of gastroenterology, we offer comprehensive care with the most modern endoscopic procedures, which enable us to offer you fast and gentle treatments that do not require inpatient admission.
Range of services
Colonoscopy (colonoscopy) with complex resection procedures:
We also perform endoscopic removal of large or unfavorably located polyps. We offer you the most modern endoscopic resection procedures.
Esophago-gastro-duodenoscopy (gastroscopy) with dilatation therapy:
We offer endoscopic dilation of narrowed areas in the digestive tract, for example in the case of esophageal stenosis.
Endoscopic radiofrequency ablation of the esophagus:
Radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is an endoscopic treatment method for the treatment of Barrett’s esophagus, a precancerous change in the mucous membrane of the esophagus. A balloon with electrodes is inserted into the esophagus and inflated. By applying radiofrequency current, the water in the cells of the mucous membrane is heated, causing the affected mucous membrane to scab over and be removed. The treatment takes about 30 to 60 minutes and is performed under sedation. After the treatment, the normal esophageal mucosa regenerates and the risk of transition to esophageal cancer is reduced.
Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG):
Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) is a procedure for inserting a feeding tube through the skin directly into the stomach. This procedure is often used for patients who are temporarily or permanently unable to take in food orally due to swallowing difficulties or other medical reasons. Typical indications for this procedure include advanced swallowing difficulties, facial surgery and diseases such as esophageal cancer. PEG is a safe and relatively uncomplicated procedure that enables long-term enteral feeding.
A gastroscope is first inserted into the stomach to perform the procedure. The abdominal wall is then punctured under endoscopic vision and a feeding tube is inserted through this opening into the stomach. The tube is fixed both internally and externally to ensure secure placement.
